The Pulp Fiction Fan Art

While a film like “Pulp Fiction” can easily be regarded as a cult classic by a majority of the movie-going public, it’s hard to pick out a scene that best represents the genius of the entire movie. The eclectic dialogue, colorful characters and This is particularly hard given the number of times Jules Winnfield, Vincent Vega, Butch Coolidge or any of the other characters find themselves in an unpredictable situation and struggle to maintain control.

However, one of the most classic scenes in Pulp Fiction is where we get to see Jules Winnfield at his very best. Dressed in a black suit with a tight and curly afro, Jules is both the epitome of cool and a fearsome figure to behold, especially when he has a gun in his hand. He is playing around with no one because the last thing he wants to do is fail his employer.

On a mission to retrieve a briefcase for Marsellus Wallace, Jules and Vincent head over to the apartment where it is being kept by teenagers looking for an easy score who quickly find out that they are in over their heads. While Vincent in present and ready to assist his main man, it is clear that at least in this scene it is Jules who is calling the shots. Having easily found the briefcase with its contacts intact, he is free to pause for a second and quip about the Big Kahuna Burger in classic Tarantino fashion.

Looking to get on with his day, Jules has no reason to continue playing around. He cannot understand why anyone in their right mind would want to try and get over on Marsellus. Where Vincent is content to play it cool, Jules summons up his infamous furious anger and lets Brett know that he is indeed a soldier of righteousness, ready and willing to strike down vengeance on those who waste his time.

In the photograph we see Jules after he has clearly just recited his version of Ezekiel 25:17. The last person hiding in another room has just missed him with all six shots of his gun from close range, and is killed in retaliation. As the magnitude of what has just happened begins to hit Jules, he comes to understand that he is truly a warrior for the Lord.

Jules is firm in his belief that only God could have moved those bullets out of the way and protected Jules while his guard was down. From this scene, one of the most pivotal and perfectly directed in the entire movie, comes the iconic Pulp Fiction photograph, a snapshot of the epiphany of Jules Winnfield in the moment that causes him to change his entire life.
