The Foursquare “I Want Somewhere” holiday promotion was designed and coded from scratch. The project included responsive front-end coding and a Ruby on Rails based back-end with a secure admin panel.
For the second year in a row, the Foursquare company—a returning customer—runs an online promotion among the user base.
I designed the original site in 2015 and upgraded it to version 2.0 in 2016.
A visitor is encouraged to pick several locations and create a unique shareable image (optimized for Instagram and the social networks).
The image and overall website look-and-feel undertook 5+ iterations. The client LOVED it in the end.
The mobile and desktop version were produced.
On the desktop, the typewriter has a visual feedback: it feels like you're actually typing, the keys are moving in accordance with the letters you're pressing on your keyboard.
With the support of Foursquare, such an established brand, more than 10K “I Want Somewhere” cards have been created over the last two years. The promotion was a very successful and smart way of hacking the social network brand presence.
